The Murray Avenue Choral Program is comprised of ~250 singers across four ensembles: 4th & 5th Grade Chorus, 6th Grade Chorus, and ManChoir. 6th grade ensembles meet during a student's specials period once every six day cycle, while 4th & 5th Grade Chorus meets solely after-school. After-school rehearsals occur twice each month for an hour for 6th Grade Chorus and 4th & 5th Grade Chorus. ManChoir is an ensemble that provides new, male-identifying singers a safe place to explore their newly changing voices. Singers in the Murray Avenue Choral Program can expect to experience a high-quality, engaging, and award-winning vocal music education in which they will sing exciting and appropriately challenging songs from all genres (including pop, R&B, soul jazz, and legit choral repertoire). Murray Avenue Choirs perform two concerts each year.
Mr. Weisblatt directs 6th Grade Chorus and can be contacted at eweisblatt@lmtsd.org. Mrs. Eisenman directs the fourth and fifth grade chorus and contacted at heisenman@lmtsd.org.
Prospective members of 4th and 5th grade chorus should complete the form below. You will be contacted by the director of this ensemble mid-October with complete schedules.
The Murray Avenue General Music Program aims to provide students a well-rounded music education in which students learn various instruments and engage with music technology and a variety of digital music making platforms. 6th Graders, who do not participate in band, orchestra, or chorus, attend general music class once every six school days during their specials period. 4th and 5th Graders participate in General Music class once every letter day cycle as part of their Encore Specials rotation. The Murray Avenue General Music Program is aimed at fostering student creativity and collaboration. Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grade General Music is taught by Mr. Ortiz (dortiz@lmtsd.org).
